Project Overview
Honey is a portable lamp designed to create an intimate and warm atmosphere through a soft, essential form and a tactile material combination. The project explores the relationship between light, proportion and domestic use, resulting in an object that feels both familiar and refined.
Design Intent
The design intent was to create a light that could be easily moved and lived with, adapting to different environments without losing its identity. Rather than focusing on technical features, the project prioritised formal balance, simplicity and emotional presence.
The lamp was conceived as a discreet object, capable of blending into its surroundings while offering a recognisable silhouette.
Form & Material
The body is made of rotational moulded plastic, chosen for its ability to create continuous, soft volumes and diffuse light evenly.
Natural materials such as leather were introduced to add warmth and tactility, creating a contrast with the matte plastic surface.
Special attention was given to:
proportions and visual weight
the relationship between light emission and surface thickness
the tactile quality of materials in everyday use
The result is an object that communicates lightness and familiarity, while maintaining a strong formal identity.
Development & Production
The project was developed in close collaboration with the technical department, translating the formal concept into an industrially producible object. The rotational moulding process enabled the design to remain faithful to the original concept while ensuring consistent, durable production.
Outcome
Honey was presented at Salone del Mobile and became part of Serralunga’s lighting collection.
The project represents an exploration of portable light as an object, where function, form and material come together in a quiet, balanced composition.
